Charity Commission No. 1180573 © 2022 Riding for the Disabled Exeter Group
Fundraising
Fund raising and donations are crucial to the continuation of our group and we must raise a minimum of £4,000 per annum just to cover our basic costs.
As well as the cost of hiring our horses and ponies we have other costs associated with the upkeep of our equipment and insurance to cover volunteers, staff and our facilities.
Although we are a member group of the national Riding for the Disabled organisation, we do not receive any direct financial support from them. We are solely responsible for raising our own funds to enable the group to continue to provide free riding.
We are registered as a charity with the Charity Commission and HM Revenue & Customs.
Company sponsorship and support
We are always grateful when local companies and organisations support our work. In the past some have donated time or particular items of equipment and others have made donations to our funds.
For example, Plymtree Horse Show and Country Fayre have supported us over the years with a generous annual donation from the proceeds of their event. We were also very pleased to have been chosen by Powderham Castle in 2016, and by Exeter Southernhay Rotary Club in 2017, to be their designated local charity.
Make a Donation
One of the most valuable sources of funds are the donations, both large and small, we receive from our supporters. You can help us continue to give disabled children the opportunity to benefit physically, mentally and emotionally from riding by donating to Exeter RDA.
All donations are welcomed, either one-

Volunteering
Our volunteers are an essential part of Exeter RDA, without them we couldn’t possibly function. We have volunteers from a diversity of backgrounds and ages who bring their talents and enthusiasm to contribute to our team. We encourage the involvement of anyone in the community who can give us a few hours of their time each week. Some volunteers will be experienced; some will have no experience at all. It is not a requirement that volunteers have previous experience of horses, riding or working with disabled children. We can teach all that: training is provided for all. It’s a very rewarding and fulfilling experience and some of our volunteers have been involved for many years. In addition to helping out during the riding sessions, volunteers are also needed to help run the group.
Please do contact us if you would like to talk about volunteering opportunities or if you would like to do some fundraising for us we would love to hear from you.
